Kick OFF Workshop Digital Human Rights Lab
Kick OFF Workshop Digital Human Rights Lab
At our Kick OFF event we will introduce the Digital Human Rights Lab and launch the project. A first step to the forming of Communities of Practice will be taken.
When
-Since the launch of the project in May, 2019, a lot of things happened – fascinating conversations about the nexus of digital technology and human rights have taken place with inspiring people in Uganda. Since July, increased collaboration began with Pollicy, a Kampala-based group of data scientists, creatives and academics looking to innovate government service delivery across Africa.
We are happy to announce that finally, on October 1st, a kick-off event on the Digital Human Rights Lab together with betterplace lab, Pollicy and GIZ Uganda will take place. The Digital Human Rights Lab is a virtual and physical space offering an opportunity for interested professionals working in the different fields of human rights protection to share their ideas concerning digitalization, human rights and digital security aspects.
At the launch, we aspect that more than 30 human rights activists will come together in Kampala and start conversations about digital human rights. We hope for a productive and stimulating atmosphere where participants can discuss topics, ask questions, and get together in groups to co-create on digital human rights.
During the day lightning talks will be given on various topics about digitalization and human rights. Hereby, we want to emphasize the key message and belief that guide the further work of the Digital Human Rights Lab. Namely, the essential importance of developing and (re-)designing digital infrastructure in the context of digital human rights work within the lens of developing societies.
