Surfing in the internet comes with many threats. Serious crimes like Phishing and the collection of user data, as well as the use of spyware are on the rise. Cyber Laws and Regulations, one of the newest areas of the legal system, create the offenses and penalties for those crimes. At the same time regulations help users to surf safely and keep their data protected.
On the one hand crimes can be directed at computers, data or information communications technologies (ICTs). On the other hand crimes can be committed by people using computers or ICT.
With those crimes becoming a global problem a coordinated international response is required. The great challenge for the law enforcement agencies and prosecutors lies in the constant amendment of the laws, as the ICT landscape is a constantly and fast changing environment.
In order to safeguard human rights in this digital age, it is time to start treating cybersecurity as a human right issue.
