This project is lead by Pollicy who collaborate with NUDIPU to assess how ICT policies and strategies affect access and utilization of ICTs by persons with disabilities in Uganda.
To assess how ICT policies and strategies affect access and utilization of ICTs by persons with disabilities in Uganda as a measure for increasing inclusion of PWDs and creating equal opportunities for them.
To understand the existing ecosystem Pollicy and NUDIPU will carry out a literature review of ICTs policies strategies in Uganda and how they affect access and utilization of ICTs by persons with disabilities. A survey that is aimed at collecting data to show the gap in ICTs for PWDs as well as understand their experiences with access and utilization of ICTs will be carried out. In addition dissemination workshops about findings of the survey will be conducted and this will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate with each other. We will also inlcude persons with disabilities in the design to generate new and actionable ideas that can be used to improve access and utilization of ICTs by PWDs. We share these ideas with the PWD community through awareness creation campaigns.
To ensure fruitful collaboration Pollicy conducted an on boarding process with their partners and they constantly communicate through email, phone calls and whatsapp.
The 1-year project will be implemented from June 2020 to July 2021.
